Two Excellent Screen Capture Tools I Use

Whether you are just an affiliate, or a blogger, screen capture tools can be one of your best friends. Screen captures are useful for a ton of reasons, the most popular ones being to show a friend something on your screen, tweak an ad copy, or to simply post to your blog or send in an email to show example. In the past I would use the “Print Screen” button on the keyboard, paste the screenshot into Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro, then made any necessary edits or changes. I’m sure many of you are still doing the same, and for those of you who still are, I wanted to introduce you to two programs I have been using for a while now.

Skitch.com + Skitch = fast and fun image sharing.
In short, Skitch is one of the greatest free programs I’ve ever used. It’s only for Mac, but with a simple install you can have a point, click, drag and upload screen capture tool in no time. The hosting is free and you can easily share your screenshots with friends or keep them private. You also have a lot of features like resizing images, adding text, arrows and other shapes. I use Skitch all the time on my blog when I’ve reviewing a product or want to point something out on a web site. If they ever decide to make a Windows version, they will quickly make millions of PC users very happy.

TechSmith: SnagIt
From the makers of the very popular Camtasia, TechSmith also created a program called “SnagIt”. SnagIt is just like Skitch, but for the PC and although it isn’t free, it’s much more advanced. Skitch may be free, but if you have a few bucks to spend and only have a PC, SnagIt is a great solution. In addition to also having image uploading, SnagIt offers a lot more screen capture / image customization and options. SnagIt costs $49.95 and you can buy it from TechSmith directly, or Amazon.

Both Skitch and SnagIt are awesome programs for screen capturing and modifying images. I highly recommend downloading each of these programs for increasing your image editing and productivity.
